The Carnival of Cordite is up.

Major stories include Clayton Cramer's gun self-defense blog and notes from Michael Bane, where he handicaps the election from a conservative/libertarian view.

The latest Carnival of Cordite is online, including memories of Jeff Cooper.

I've been light on blogging today, since I'm working on the documentary. Think I have final edition done. I'll test it tonight, ship it to replication firm tommorrow. They take 2-3 weeks, so I should be in distribution sometime in mid-November.

Carnival of Cordite

The Carnival of Cordite is up. I esp. liked the link to this story, on how the military is considering long-overdue replacement of the 5.56 mm with something more potent. The traditional assault rifle was optimized for the 200-300 yard battles likely to take place in Europe. We're now finding, while fighting in deserts and mountains, that longer-ranged firefights are likely.

While we're on carnivals, here's the Carnival of Homeschooling.

Carnival of Cordite No. 68

Carnival of Cordite No. 68 is up, on theme of hot women and guns. It links to a Michael Bane post on Forest Service cutting off shooting opportunities. I can tell you, as its presidente, that Tucson Rod and Gun Club has has some experience with that.

Carnival of Cordite

Posted by David Hardy · 8 April 2006 04:37 PM

The Carnival of Cordite is up. The lead post is interesting--the Army is bringing out a cannister round for the 120mm gun on the M-1. It spits out 1100 tungsten balls, each 10mm in diameter, and should be quite useful in urban fighting. They'd probably have no trouble penetrating most walls, and would clear a street in a hurry.

Carnival of Cordite is up!

Posted by David Hardy · 19 November 2005 08:59 AM

The latest Carnival of Cordite is up, with everything from pumpkin firing artillery (when a pumpkin-projector has a sixty foot barrel we can safely call it artillery) to a debate on mandatory sentencing. BTW, the host is urging all to vote for him in the blogger deck of cards. Do it, he deserves it for his work in this area!

Festival of Cordite is up!

Posted by David Hardy · 22 October 2005 09:46 AM

Festival of Cordite #35 is up! There's a link to the wierdest looking subgun you will ever see, but from the attached video it seems to have exceptional resistance to climb, whether fired from shoulder or hip. (The grip is behind the action, so that the barrel is roughly level to the firer's ring finger. The recoil thus comes straight back into the hand, or shoulder... although to my eye, it should "climb down," it seems to thrust straight back).
