Great news!

Not great news as the people will pay this from their taxes.

Great news would be that the SCOTUS put forth the proper decision that the entire local government of DC is unconstitutional because of Art 1 Sec 8 Pp 17. Congress cannot exercise EXCLUSIVE legislation if there are local authorities. Congress' power is exclusive of other governmental entities but not absolute as in over the Constitution. Without the constitutional delegation in Art 1 Sec 8 Pp 17, Congress would not have exclusive legislation in the district. Congress has absolutely no delegation of power to delegate the authority delegated to the Congress.

Delegata potestas non potest delegari.

Every US Taxpayer (which is less than 50% of the US population) will be paying this.

The unconstitutional city council in DC should dig deep into their own pockets to pay for THEIR mistake.

….They should, but they are legally immune. And, as you point out, IT AIN’T THEIR GEETUS . D.C.’s political leaders will gain support, not lose it, as a result of this decision. No city program will suffer a loss.

..Definitely a win-win for the lefties.
