A law prof on arming teachers
His op-ed here. Since the author is a law prof, with experience in security, his opinion may carry some special weight.

We should stop advocating for the "arming teachers" program. It's too limited and puts the focus on the school employees least likely to be in favor of the idea. Push for allowing any adult on campus to be armed. Only about 60%-70% of the adults on a given campus are teachers. Custodians, maintenance, construction and delivery workers, food service, IT staff, librarians, administrators, secretaries, counselors, etc. are also present. School campuses could be very well protected by these people without a single teacher carrying a weapon.
What Hank said. "Arming Teachers" is the prohibitionist's phrasing designed to make the public imagine every teacher being issued a sidearm and enough training to ensure a desk-pop.
What's actually advocated is removing the prohibition that prevents teachers from possessing tools they can possess the other 2/3rds of their lives.
Sorry not going to happen, first it makes sense and second it does not rely on the government to protect you
