This reminds me of Susanna Gratia Hupp's statement about what happened to her in 1991; "So as a good law-abiding citizen, I left my gun out in my car, where it was completely useless to me." For Hupp it was her parents, and 28 years has elapsed since the Luby's Cafeteria shootings. How awful to have the same thing still going on...
