SAF sues over "3-D printable guns" issue

Posted by David Hardy · 7 May 2015 11:03 AM

Discussion here. At issue is a government attempt to block internet distribution of the computer files that enable printing of the guns, invoking ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations). The challenge is brought under the First and Second Amendments, and the Due Process Clause. Attorneys are Alan Gura and Prof. Josh Blackman.

I think we must do what our US president said - not the current presidential impersonator, George Washington.

George Washington: "A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."

Could you possibly give the source for that quote? It's terrific.

Thanks!

I suggested they do the same maneuver that the PGP did. Print a data file using the MIME format in a book and mail it to someone overseas.
