Texas isn't safe for purse-snatchers, updated
Here's the video, on Youtube. Very nice work. He protects the lady, gets the robbers out of the car and lying on the ground as he keeps them covered.

I can't tell for certain from the video whether he's got his muzzle actually covering either of the perps or simply has it pointed at the ground near them. The later would, of course, be preferable (Rule 2). One of the things that cause problems for new instructors is the need not only to keep their muzzle always pointed in a safe direction, but to do so in such a way that the students can see so clearly. Also, he wouldn't have to have his finger inside the trigger guard unless and until there was an actual need to fire (Rule 3). I can't determine whether or not he was following that rule either. Without any evidence to show he violated either rule, I'll give him an "Atta Boy" and buy him a beer.
Keeping them covered seems problematic from a legal standpoint if not from a moral standpoint. I assume that a prosecutor would charge him with at least manslaughter if he had a negligent discharge that killed one of the perpetrators. Given that they stopped the vehicle and exited with the threat of deadly force, keeping the pistol out but pointed in a safe direction probably would have been enough.
