Imagine if some CCW holders had done this....

The cry would be to disarm the dangerous lunatics. 377 shots fired, the suspect and an unarmed passenger in his car killed, reports that the wounded passenger was killed while trying to raise his hands, so much firing that two people experienced eardrum ruptures.

The shooting is under review, and "those reviews will likely take years to complete."

The only thing I can say is every single one of the officers should be fired on the spot and all brought up on equal charges or at least manslaughter among other things.

The police are now highly credentialed, however they are no longer professional.

Professionals never become frenzied, "...what is clear is the Walgreens robbery and the shooting of Officer Rodriguez sent officers across the county into a state of frenzy."

This is not an isolated incident or the first time. Remember the LAPD shooting up the hispanic newspaper delivery women? 103 shots, no one even knew who they were shooting at. A few blocks away and minutes later, a Torrance PD Cop RAMS another pickup and fires multiple shots at the whoite driver, thinking it was Chris Dorner, a black man. The police had to "use the burners," but they fried Dorner a few days later.

It seems to me that it's the bigger departments that have these incidents - the departments with lots of procedures, training, etc.

Miami (now), NYPD, LAPD, LA Sheriffs Department, to name just a few.

Mayberry departments get the job done without firing 377 shots.

Reminds me of the incident in Seattle a number of years ago where a teenager stole a fully equipped police car and led the real police on a wild chase through city streets. At one point, two pursuing cops drove down the same street in opposite directions and, each thinking that the other was the rogue teenager, stopped, got out, and proceeded to empty their pistols at each other. Neither cop was hit nor were their cars hit by any of the more than thirty shots fired. The teenager gave himself up not long after.
Spray and pray, baby.

We do not have real men as police today. And all of them are scared to death that they might be killed. However, statistically they are very much less likely to be killed on duty today than in the 50s. Some where around 1959 there were roughly 160 cops killed on duty. I also read that around 2000 or maybe 2005 the same number were killed. So the population has doubled or more. The number of cops has increased greatly yet the number of deaths has held steady. I also read that 160 or so was the largest number of deaths per year. These numbers indicate the job of being a cop is safer today than 50 yrs ago.

My father was a man, a cop in the 50s. He feared nothing and still at 88 yrs old is tough as nails.

And while many cops today have college degrees, that too is meaningless. As a retired prof, I can say factually that a bachelor's degree today barely exceeds a HS diploma of 30 yrs ago. AND with the last 30 yrs grade inflation, anyone making less that 100% in college would have to be considered as being 1 full grade level below the last generation in capability.

I remember when I was growing up in the 50's cops that were muscled up were usually avoided as being fanatical hotshots that would get everyone else killed. Look at them today and you see so many that are over muscled, done out in the latest and greatest tactical gear, with a car that is a rolling armory. They aren't cops they are special forces wannabes

One cop screaming "HANDS UP" and another "DON"T MOVE"
What are you supposed to do?

Peter, Too often the answer is:
You die in a hail of bullets.
