Family of Santa Barbara killer supports gun control

Posted by David Hardy · 24 May 2014 09:51 PM

Why am I not surprised?

BTW, he bought his guns legally, in California, which Brady Campaign rates as having the strictest gun control laws in the U.S.. And killed three people with knives.

So the family immediately jumps into public light to shift blame away from the shooter an ont (1) the gun and (2) mental illness.

I find it amazing that he was actually able to buy handgun(s) in California. But then he was the son of a Hollywood type person and the laws don't apply to them.
The major fail here is that he is under the care of all sorts of mental health people and nothing is posted in any sort of NICs database that he has a serious problem. The fail is the Heath professionals not doing their part.

Because the way they raised him, the example they set, and the culture they were part of- that, as Hollywood insiders, they helped create- could have nothing to do with what happened. It must have been the guns that made him go bad...

DaveP; you're right it was that nasty evil gun casting it's evil spell on that innocent child that changed him to a homicidal maniac /Sarc off

His family were left wingers long before this incident. California is not called the left coast for nothing.

Per his manifesto as posted in CNN's timeline he considered attacking the "Deltopia" festival but chose not to due to the heavy police presence. In his own words he states tat he didn't want to get shot before he could kill a lot of people.

Mass-murderers choose gun free zones and Santa Barbara County is such, unless a cop is standing nearby.

Mental illness alone is not sufficient to get you added to NICS. Involuntary commitment pursuant to due process is needed (along with pleading not guilty by reason of insanity and a few other cases).
