Sounds like a non sequitur to me....

Hartford, CT: gun used to shoot up a bar traces to a shipment of guns from Smith and Wesson that was stolen by the delivery driver.

Mayor Bill Finch proclaims, "This incident is a perfect example of why we need stronger gun laws in the United States. Loopholes need to be tightened up."

"Well, we can't keep them from manufacturing those devilish instruments, but we can close the loophole that allows them to be shipped out of the factory."

Only a runner up to David Dinkins who argued for tougher gun control laws after the most recent NYC murder during his administration. In that case, the murder being discussed was committed using a knife.

What in the name of all that is good and holy does one have to do with the other?

The problem is with the delivery driver. The loophole is all the points in the retail chain the gun goes through.

We should have the manufacturer sell directly to the consumer and, as it used to be, have the firearm hand delivered by a government agent.

AKA the Mailman.

We desperately need to pass a law to make breaking the law illegal! And then we have to strengthen that law with further legislation!

Mayor Finch quite clearly needs some kind soul to demonstrate to him how to pull his head out of his ass...he's obviously too bone-headed to figure it out on his own...

Either that, or just maybe help him shove it all the way in, so he'll croak and we'll have one less moronic politician hangin' around.
