Another Bloomberg mayor bites the dust

Posted by David Hardy · 10 October 2013 07:31 PM

Kwame Kilpatrick, former Detroit mayor and member of MAIG, just was sentenced to 28 years in prison for corruption.

"Kilpatrick spent $800,000 more than he earned. He billed his city credit card for trips to Las Vegas, and bought concert tickets and football tickets along with an $850.00 steak dinner. He leased two Lincoln Navigators for his wife with public money.

"Managing a city with no money is hard every single day," Kilpatrick told the court. "I can't stand here and say I didn't work my butt off. I did every single day.""

UPDATE: just got thru deleting and despamming about 200 spam comments, most of them like this one. I'll leave that one up, just hoping it's not saying something in Japanese that the NSA doesn't like...

My rhetorical question is, "What would it take to get Detroit to vote Republican?" To anyone who knows Detroit, that question is simply ridiculous. Detroit will never vote Republican because all the Republicans left.

If it were razed, disincorporated, and administratively dissolved, then sown into farmland there would be a chance. A small one, but bigger than there is now.

...I have seen Kwame....on T.V., anyway, and his butt is still there. He did not work it off. He built it up. A big butted bastard he is.

Another corrupt mayor in bloombergs ill fated group. I am not surprised. They take the oath to support and defend both the constitution of the sate and federal. To be a part of this group you have defy that oath. So corruption and illegal activity is not a surprise.

This is a bit off the main point of this blog, but 28 years for corruption is ludicrous. Kwame was a grasping scumbag, but 28 years for non-violent financial crime?

...Those Kwame supporters above sure spell funny.

28 years because he did not spread the graft away enough - they were pissed at him and are making him pay :)

This is cool! Kinda like our own secret code...

If [Detroit] were razed, disincorporated, and administratively dissolved, then sown into farmland, I predict that there would still be over 250,000 Democrat votes reported from there after every election. An all-Democrat city is too good for Democrats to pass up, even if it's not there any more.

David, I think the spammers are still posting. See post at 12:10 PM 15 October 2013.

28 years might make the point to the rest of the Detroit clan. Kilpatrick was just the tip of the iceberg. There wasn't a single honest politician or city employee in the whole of Wayne county. I was there until 2009. Now I'm not. I feel so much better now.

Old Coach: thanks, I deleted it. The spam filters have caught, at last count, nearly a million spam comments, and each night (spammers must have day jobs and usually post at night) another 20-40 make it thru the spam filters and have to be deleted by hand. I just caught 15.
