Marissa Alexander case
It's generating some debate. This writer says it shows discrimination, when compared to the Zimmerman outcome: she just "fired a bullet into the wall of her home," to ward off an abusive husband
But this article contends there's more to the story. She and her husband had been arguing, she went to her car to get her gun, and returned. It was his house, they were living separately. The bullet went into wall close to her husband's head. The husband had been arrested three times for DV, but while she was out on bond she was arrested for battering him, and pled out.
The one thing both agree on is the draconian nature of Florida mandatory sentencing law, under which she got twenty years.

Oh, and why cant I use my valid email address which is a google address? The one I have to use to post is my old one that no longer works.
Given what is alleged about this woman, I have to wonder if the husband's three DV arrests were because he had to physically defend himself and/or his children but the police were only concerned with her bruises and her story.
I am so happy to be married to a good woman who is not crazy. Nothing can utterly ruin your life like a bad spouse.
Booker needs to be extended to all mandatory guidelines - minimums, enhancements, etc. A judge should always have discretion on the sentence.
According to the court docs, the husband was standing next to his kids with his hands in the air when she fired her shot.
That is in NO WAY self defense.
