Thoughts on April 19

Posted by David Hardy · 19 April 2013 11:04 AM

20th anniversary of the Waco fire. My webpage on that tragedy is down at the moment, hope to get it up again in the next few weeks.

In Massachusetts, Watertown is effectively on lockdown, residents told to stay indoors while police hunt for the surviving bomber... and many of those residents are probably wishing they had a firearm in the house.

Near Waco, a fertilizer plant blows up (video here, looks to have been taken from suicidally close range, maybe 300-400 yards), and looting is reported (although little, as one might expect, Waco being quite a nice town in my experience). Again, a situation where private firearms are quite handy.

It's also sad to reflect that on this 238th Anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord with the stalwart citizens of the Boston area fighting for their homes and rights while today they are cowering in their homes, largely unarmed, hoping the police will save them from a single nut - how times do change.

Yup, no serious guns allowed in MA. Unless, of course, you're a terrorist. Then you can have all the guns, grenades, pipe bombs and so on that you want.
