« If the House REALLY wants to press the contempt issue... | Main | The march of progress »

Now, this is a shocker

Posted by David Hardy · 29 June 2012 05:10 PM

Justice Department announces it won't prosecute the Attorney General.

I wonder at the wisdom of announcing it, though. As I recall the next step in a criminal contempt citation is for Issa to ask for himself or others to be appointed to prosecute, in the name of the House. Normally he'd have to give Justice a reasonable time in which to act, but now there is no such need.

The House has authority to simply arrest Holder and confine him until he purges his contempt (in this case, by having his subordinates schlep all the missing documents over to the Capitol) or the Congressional term winds down (January 3, 2013).

I think the House should have the Sergeant-at-Arms take a few stout fellows to Holder's home at 3 in the morning and arrest the sonofagun.

Who ever thought the US House would need its own SWAT team?

Kinda sad that we don't even expect integrity in government.

It's a losing game when the only branch of government 'expected' to retain "legitimacy and integrity" is the Judicial.

...Who would ever want a subordinate of the Atty Genl sent to prosecute him ?
