Order from Seattle Mayor

Posted by David Hardy · 2 May 2012 04:41 PM

His order for confiscation of weapons carried on the street, issued yesterday afternoon.

Hat tip to #GunBlogger_Conspiracy...

UPDATE: The order was rescinded the next day. Here's some press conference material.

How fast can you say Section 1983 ?

So he's TRYing to get innocent people killed. Outstanding. Something tells me Occupy Seattle isn't going to listen to the Mayor, and people defending themselves will find themselves arrested for defying the Mayor.

Is he trying to get Alan Gura's attention? Did he really not notice that Gura just won Bateman?

I am not surprised by this. They up in Seattle have been trying to ban all firearms for years. Each time they do it the state attorney general slaps them down. As the Seattle mayors keep violating both the state law and us law. However, this time it seems to be working. However the mayor will take it to far and get smacked again. At least hopefully, as I do not want the mayor of Olympia where I live to try this.

Could this possibly be 'civil rights violations, under color of the law', if enforced on an individual?

Here in Utah we have a law specifically prohibiting the government from doing that. I guess Washington has different ideas.

@BOBG : Washington has them too...doesn't stop the mayor(s) of Seattle from doing it though.

Those are just the STATE laws he criminally violated; there is 18 USC 242 as well. One wonders why this mayor and his immediate predecessor (Greg Nickles) aren't in jail. Perhaps the FBI will add this incident to their ongoing investigation of civil rights violations by Seattle.

Yeah...right.

"Each time they do it the state attorney general slaps them down"

Not so much the attorney general, who is limited to issuing advisory opinions, as it is the courts who have been slapping Seattle's hands.
