Coral Sea not only set up the Battle of Midway, but increased the odds of a US victory.
The air crews of the Zuikaku and Shokaku were decimated, which meant that neither ship was available for the Battle of Midway, which changed the odds.
The battle also thwarted Japanese plans for a southern thrust aimed at capturing Australia.
A pivotal battle in many regards and one all too forgotten today.
It's actually the 70th anniversary, but who's counting?
