Reports that ATF acting director may resign

Posted by David Hardy · 20 June 2011 04:31 PM

That would get interesting, esp. if the White House appoints Traver as the new acting director. (I find it strange that an agency, whose head is subject to Senate confirmation, has been going for years with an unconfirmed acting director).

Traver was copied on at least some of the emails regarding Fast and Furious, the DOJ was not exactly efficient in redacting all email addresses all the time in what was released... So appointing him to be BATFE director may not be a viable long-term strategy, since if the Congressional investigations result in criminal charges, he could be indicted along with the others who were involved.
