Brady's Richard Aborne loses election in Manhattan

Posted by David Hardy · 16 September 2009 03:14 PM

CCRKBA release here. Aborne, a former board member of what became the Brady Campaign, ran for DA with stress on his gun control advocacy, and the endorsement of many such groups. He got only 26% of the vote. In Manhattan, no less.

That makes me a happier man than Dennis Henigan ...

I live in Manhattan and I talk to as many people as reasonably possible. It seems to me that most residents of Manhattan support more gun control, often times out of ignorance. But on the other hand, for most residents of Manhattan, more gun control is far from being at the top of their list of priorities.

doesn't matter who won this one. They are all anti 2nd amendment.

I am as happy to beat the Brady bunch with any available stick as the next guy, but I think CCRKBA is stealing a base here. I'll bet a nickle the other two guys were just as anti-gun, as ED noted, they just didn't run on that. If CCRKBA could show one of them wasn't, they'd have something.

And as Pro-2A said, gun control probably isn't high up on most Manhattanites' lists. The 2A right has effectively been eliminated in NYC, regardless of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Federal law, or SCOTUS decisions. It is not necessary to elect a DA who promises gun control because it has already been effectively implemented.

Whoops. Second para should have started, "As CARL said...".

Well ... there is being anti-second amendment, and then there is wearing it on your sleeve and making it a pet issue. I'd rather have a casualist anti-gun rights DA in NCY than a rabid anti-gun rights DA.

You might say it's all relative, and they are all anti-gunners. Perhaps. Yet I would argue that relativity matters a great deal.

It's real nice Gottlieb copied our e-mail and press release and is trying to claim some credit for defeating Aborn.

I would tend to agree with Carl on this issue.

Hey I found your blog today linked from Human Events. I really like what I see. I'll be sure to regularly stop in.

I am a 26 year old grad student from Chicago and I have a humble little blog of my own (A Voice in the Wilderness) and here's my latest piece:

Keep up the good work. Thanks and God bless!

Hope you'll listen to my interview of Dennis Henigan here:

I think he has undoubtedly set a new Guinness World Indoor Record for saying the most idiotic, unConstitutional things on a one-hour radio show, mine. In fact, I think he has retired the title. Comments welcome.
