It seems more a vulgar brawl than an affair of honor.

OINK - that's about right. In my reading of historical swordfights, most of them seemed to have been "vulgar brawls", not the amazing athletic adventures seen in the movies..
You don't fight a duel with katanas unless you want people to die. Rapiers can be to first blood.
