"Good and capable" teacher suspended due to gun photo
Beaver Dam WI schools have suspended and are investigating a teacher who posted a pic of herself aiming a gun on her Facebook page. While I don't care for pics where the gun is aimed at the camera, I can't see what it has to do with her teaching.
Hat tip to reader L. Flam....
UPDATE: yes, a lot of local ACLU chapters are pretty good on the right to arms. After national HQ issued a release on the Heller decision that (at best) complained the Court got it wrong, the Arizona ACLU issued one stating that they had always seen the right to arms as an individual right, and Heller merely accepted what had always been obvious.

All the above is publicly available, of course:
I hope the place I teach doesn't check out my blog or my Youtube Videos. Hell, The Texas National Match Team is on there, shooting assault rifles! I'm skinning a deer! I showing people how to hold a pistol! There's no end to it!
I never feared the pictures of my shooting an M1 at the Garand match until now. Hope my Dept. Chair does not visit my gun club site!
The ACLU is defending a gun owner? I am shocked!
But I see that it is the state-level ACUL, not national.
Yeah, some of the state level ACLUs aren't so bad - the TX ACLU, for one. But the national ACLU is controlled by Leftwing Beltway types. The national ACLU sucks hot Muslim sphincter.
Now if she had pictures of her eviscerating a live goat while she danced naked under the moon, they'd be commending her 'diversity'.

NO! NO! Not eviscerating the goat! That would drive the PETA folks crazy.
Fellating the goat would fit right in, though.
There's nothing wrong with pointing a gun at a camera. The problem is with pointing a gun at a photographer.
Remote trigger cables are available for cameras come with for a number of reasons. This is one of them.
Jeff, every camera I've used has had a time delay photo feature. I'm assuming this is one of them given the angle in relation to the table surface.
Coincidentally enough, I took a teacher shooting for the first time just yesterday. She had a lot of fun and now has a bunch of photos of herself popping soda cans with a AR-15 and other things.
Most digital cameras these days have a time delay function where you can set the camera on a flat surface then jump in front of it and strike a pose.
I'm sure the vast majority of muzzle pics seen online are taken this way. I would never ask someone to stand in front of the muzzle and snap the photo, nor would I do it for anyone else.
I see nothing wrong with pointing a weapon at an inanimate object like a camera, as long as you're aware of your backstop, etc, and otherwise following gun-safety protocol.
In any case, what a teacher puts on her personal Facebook page really shouldn't be anyone's business, it's her 1A right to free expression. (I wouldn't recommend using FB for school-related stuff, though)
Couldn't have said it better myself.
It would be a little much if the end of the barrel was engraved with "Wait for the Flash".
But the picture she used? Dumb stupid educrats!
