NY Times on guns on campus
The Times just published an op-ed by David Codrea on the subject. He does an excellent job of nailing the campus administration.

Wow! The staff of NYT probably thinks that is nuts, but that fact that they actually published it, well, thats nothing short of remarkable! Maybe there is hope...
They may be looking for new jobs:
Comments thus far decidedly pro-campus carry.
Even many carry proponents think that campus is no place to carry a firearm. My argument is one of the psyche - people view campuses as sacred. The line between fantasy and reality is too blurry for too many.
We still too often exist in the dark ages in regard to logic and reason.
Minutes ago, the Illinois house failed to pass a law requiring background checks on private handgun transfers. The vote was 58-58. A real squeaker. Thus far, 75% of Illinois counties have passed resolutions saying they oppose any more state gun control laws. The giant that is Chicago blindly plods on...evermore down the slippery slope.
Don't believe it. Its a trick. The MSM is trying to convince us that gun control is as dead as the dodo, and that they MSM has changed its tune.
In fact, just you wait, once Hillary or Obama are in the White House, the NYT and all the other MSM will be screaming bloody murder for more gun control. Just you wait.
It's actually a panel discussion and I'm the only "pro gun" invitee--although comments are overwhelmingly pro-RKBA.
You can see all the other editorials and rebuttals here:

Incidentally, David, I urged my contact to also invite you, Clayton Cramer and John Lott--I'm not sure if they thought they could all gang up on the dumb kid or not, but so far, reader comments are helping quite a bit.
I'm encouraging all to spread the word and weigh in with comments that well represent our side. If the NYT perceives enough reader interest, they may be inclined to host such discussions again, and their megaphone is a lot louder than ours.
I keep wondering if during all the shooting last year, anyone in that building was thinking "I'm glad no one else has a gun."
Had a thought while reading that comment: Would schools and administration officials be legally liable if they allowed CCW and a permit-holding student commited murder on campus?
Since so much seems to be driven by legal-liability these days, I wondered if part of the prevalence of this thinking these days is from that.
The comments are very surprising - strongly favoring the rights of individuals to carry.
For the NYTimes readership, I'd have expected the opposite.
