Good reason to spend the 4th here

Posted by David Hardy · 5 July 2007 12:25 PM

OK, it got up to 110 yesterday, and soon will be summer. But in DC:
1. A storm swept into the area, with tornado warnings in the VA suburbs, forcing evacuation of the Mall. It swept out in time for the fireworks to go on.
2. But after the display, one of the unfired ones detonated, injuring two workers.
3. And in the suburb of Vienna, a projectile burst in the crowd, leaving ten injured, two with life-threatening injuries.

Since most newsrooms are populated by twenty-something kids, it's no wonder they get shit wrong all the time.

They must have corrected the article as I read it over and over trying to find the mortar/projectile error. Then I saw the date of the article was also changed to the 6th.

We just got your basic electrical storm here in Northern Virginia. Not even much wind. No hail. Not enough to make me want to come in from drinking beer on Bitter's patio.
