Strange debate in Jamaica

Posted by David Hardy · 17 April 2006 09:52 AM

As I read this story, a member of Jamaica's senate has called for complete repeal of its gun laws, a former police commissioner has endorsed arming the citizenry, but the Jamaica Rifle Association is protesting because "Guns are not the solution to Jamaica's crime problem."

I guess I have enough trouble figuring out our own politics....

In many of what were former Bristich colonies, the "gun club" was an extension of the ruling British. With a membership of only 800 or so I would think that this is still true and it may be one of the elite not wanting the "lower classes" to be armed.

Take a gander at this for comparison!

Like we couldn't see this coming. Article from last year, blaming the US for the "gun problem" in Jamaica.
