A lady teacher who was plagued by thugs dared to fire an air gun at them.
Result: a sentence of three years' imprisonment (reduced on appeal to 36 days), and a firing.

Hard to tell without more details on the circumstances whether this is another case of overzealous prosecution of victims who engage in legitimate self-defense or someone who really did something wrong. The article seems to hint that she "confronted" the yobs, rather than defend herself from them. It's possible what she did would have gotten her into trouble in most US states as well.
