FPC wins against TN law forbidding handgun carry by 18-20 yr olds

Posted by David Hardy · 23 January 2023 06:41 PM

Both FPC and the state have agreed to an order forbidding the state to enforce a new law forbidding handgun carry by, and issuance of concealed carry permits to, 18-20 year olds.

It would be better if the State agreed to prosecute and quarantine (incarcerate) the criminals that they do mannage to catch.

Are 18-20 year olds, even with training, mature/reliable enougn to carry?

The military certainly thinks so, do you approve of them carrying automatic weapons? The arrogance inherent in your question makes me want to vomit; I see that supposedly pro gun folks are still our own worst enemy.

Very well said Fyathyrio.

Some are very mature at 16. Some not so at 60.

I suspect that unreliable 18-20 year olds are washed out of the military in a hurry. I also doubt that they are allowed to carry their military handguns off duty.

"I suspect blah-blah-blah" "I also doubt blah-blah-blah"

So, you have no military experience, yet still feel qualified to pass judgement on a large chunk of the population based on your imagination of a very small part of 18-21yo citizens, and strip the entire 18-21yo cohort of their civil rights because your feels. If it wasn't for 18 year olds with guns, you'd be talking with a funny accent and singing God Save the Queen. Military dropouts are also a strawman you are cowardly hiding behind to avoid the real question. Any other civil rights you have issues with? Maybe stopping those crazy chicks from voting? Should we bring back poll taxes and literacy tests? Maybe the .gov should approve the drivel you post first instead of those armed 18-21yo soldiers protecting your right to be a dumbass in public?

Vastly more damage has been done to this country and its citizens in the last half century by people casting votes than by people shooting guns. If we’re willing to suffer the consequences of 18-20 year olds’ votes, there’s very little extra risk in letting them carry guns.

I thank God every day I grew up when I did BEFORE GCA 68. As a young buck, 9-10 yrs old, I carried while hiking the deserts of my home. I wore a Super Blackhawk 44 mag in a low slung holster at 15-18 when in the mountains. Always carried a sidearm when hunting and started hunting at the ripe old age of 8.

Are 18-20 yr olds mature enough? Well they can VOTE!!!
