House-passed "assault weapon" "ban"
Text here. Among other things, it would cover any semiautonomous rifle with a "pistol grip" or a "threaded barrel." Note this would cover even those where the pistol grip is a portion of the shoulder stock. The M-1 Grand and Carbine would be covered, since their stocks have pistol grips. (The Garand's clip is likely a "detachable feeding device.") So would the Remington Model 8, first sold in 1906 (which also has a detachable buttstock, another banned feature). Among handguns, any that have a magazine outside the pistol grip (There goes the broom handle Mauser). Among shotguns, any that have a magazine (fixed or not) that can accept more than 5 rounds (with the new 1 3/4" shells, that means all of them) and has "a pistol grip or a bird's head grip."
Guns "banned" by name: all "AK types" and "AR types," including some .22 rimfire.
Also covered is any parts designed to "accelerate the rate of fire" of a semiauto.
I can't bear to read any farther. That a majority of the House would pass this is beyond belief...

basically if it is a semi-auto they will come for it
Come right down to it, I actually support a ban of Semi Autonomous weapons.
I mean, smart as they were, our founding fathers could hardly be expected to predict Terminator...
Autocorrect, the seedling of Skynet...
So I pull the gas tube from my AR. It's no longer a semi auto. Next I install the pump action adapter I designed. Finally I give Congress the freeway salute.
I put on my (retired) lawyer hat and read the bill line by line.
No, the Garand and M1 carbine (fixed stock) are specifically exempt.
Better buy up everything you want while you can. Anything owned prior to the bill becoming enacted is grandfathered in, at least as far as ownership is concerned.
That assumes it actually gets passed in the Senate. We'll see. Better get the vote out.
"adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, size, or any other dimension"
Tons of hunting rifles and shotguns have stocks with replaceable shims that, if removed, would reduce the length.
As far as semi-auto pistols...
"A semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm."... that would ban ALL Glocks and Beretta 92s
"A barrel shroud."... almost EVERY slide on a semi auto pistol acts as a barrel shroud... except the Beretta 92
I also love how "AR Type" and "AK type" are not legally defined.
Paired with the Red Flag laws it means, a call to the police to check on you and if they find any firearm not on on your person (because you don't want to get shot by the police) or securely locked away is in violation of the new law?
NOT going to Pass the U.S. Senate NO Matter What the Tone-Deaf White House Wants.
But hey, there is some good news . . . it has all the exceptions for law enforcement you can imagine, even for those that are retired! Maybe, just maybe, if you back the blue hard enough, they will come for you last! Better fly that thin blue line flag high and make sure you have years worth of sheriff's stickers on your car's back window.
