The only way to win, is not to play.
When I was a working stiff, I had little choice where I traveled, and I traveled often. Now, like Mr. Welling, I just don't go to certain States. Even in the more "free" states, certain basic rules apply. I carry proof of insurance and registration on the sun visor or side pocket. Long guns are locked up in the trunk or truck bed box. Know what you are required to do and may refuse to do during a traffic stop. My answer is always "no I do not give consent to search". Know the rules for being detained- or not. Know the laws in the state where your butt currently sits! I check handgunlaw.us when I travel, and I check the state DPS and/or AG websites.
I'm sure Mr. Hardy could expand on this.
My personal solution is fairly simple.
I don't go to New Jersey.
In all seriousness, they have nothing I can't get elsewhere, and much I can't abide. When they choose to rejoin the United States, they may see me... and my money.... again.
