John Lott on California's background checks for ammunition
At National Review.
"Between July 2019 and January 2020, 101,047 non-prohibited Californians were prevented from buying bullets. By contrast, just 188 prohibited people were denied. That means that for every prohibited person whose purchase was rejected, 537 law-abiding citizens were denied."

And of the 188 prohibited persons, how many were prohibited for inconsequential and decades old crimes that in no way relate to actual dangerousness.
If it saves just one child's life . . .
Put another way, for every potential criminal "stopped", the constitutional rights of "only" 537 law abiding citizens had to be trampled. :) Almost as effective as Connecticut's Red Flag Law is at stopping suicides.
It's a feature, not a bug,
