New gun buyers experiencing an epiphany
Dave Workman has an interesting article on the subject. They're discovering that instant checks often aren't instant, their state has a waiting period, in some "universal background check" states they can't borrow a gun, in some places gun stores aren't open anyway, etc. I can't help but wonder if this will cause a measurable political shift in the future.

With the possible exception of a handful of independent voters, I doubt this gun buying surge will change many minds. Once this crisis is over and the soy latte river is free flowing again, the icky guns will be pushed to the back of the closet shelf and never discussed, like masturbation. Eventually, some of these guns will be discovered during robberies, become part of the black market, and help keep the ol' murder train rolling efficiently along in wonderful liberal enclaves like Baltimore and Chicago.
For some would-be buyers it will be a wake-up call.
When things are open again, the others who couldn't get a gun on demand will say "Hey, I'm still alive so I really didn't need one anyway".
Do you think they'll think, "If the politicians and the press have been lying to me for decades about this, what else are they lying to me about?" Nah. Me neither.
It will be interesting to see if this changes how people think/act about gun control and the gun control lobby.
I one time had a class on ethics where a student said anyone could just get a gun with out any problem. So I asked if they meant legally and they said yes. So I went to a friend who is an FFL and had him give me the paperwork and a run down of all the steps just to purchase a rifle.
Brought it to class and boy was there some surprised people.
