Cuomo ignores Remington's offer to make protective equipment

Posted by David Hardy · 6 April 2020 07:51 PM

And, for good measure, announces he is ordered some from China. I hope somebody points out to Remington that there are lots of places (such as rural Michigan) that are in dire need. Charity doesn't begin at home when you have a governor like that.

Cheyenne or Casper would be a great new home for them.

They have had a plant in Kentucky for years. But when they acquired Marlin and tried to move that company's production from CT to KY they found the machinery did not travel well enough to keep using. And after replacing it with up to date machinery it took YEARS to get the new production lines running smoothly, with LOTS of customer complaints in the meantime. (As the owner of several Marlin lever actions, I know that those made in CT can draw higher, sometimes much higher, prices on the used market than those made in KY.)

So the prospect of moving from the original factory site in New York is probably very unappetizing to Remington.

Apparently, the Cuomo party line is that Remington didn't offer to manufacture anything, they just offered manufacturing space in their facility for someone else to manufacture stuff, and that's not what Cuomo needs.

Are we to believe that in all of New York City, Cuomo doesn't know a single commercial shadchan?
