So much for the justice system protecting you
Story here.
January 2009: he's arrested, probably for attempted murder, or at least agg assault on the lady. He's released on $25,000 bond.
Feb. - March: he returns and chokes her, calls her over a hundred times with threats to murder her in front of her children.
August: more of the same. His bond is increased to $150,000. (Sounds like prosecutor didn't ask for the increase until this point).
March 2010-April 2011: he's in jail. Reason not explained, likely it was for the above, in which event a dangerous individual got a one-year sentence for a serious violent crime.
May 2011: upon release, he beats her and threatens her. Arrest warrant issued but not served.
May 2012: calls her over a hundred times with threats. Breaks into her house. Is arrested on the year-old warrant. Released a few months later, presumably after posting bond.
August 2012: he breaks in. She calls 911, it takes half an hour before officers are informed. They arrive, find house locked and quiet, cell phone does not pick up, and leave. Her body is found by her family two days later.

Manafort rots. Cloward and Piven smile.
...goes to the real question: Can you farm out personal or national defense to hirelings ? Certainly possible, but is it wise ? Efficient ? Safe ?
...The second amendment and the draft are based on the belief that nobody is as responsible for you as you are. If you don't take up that responsibility, you let yourself and those folks who depend on you down.
...She shoulda armed herself. She shoulda shot the bastard. The right person would be dead. The right person would be alive.
The anti-gun crusade has been so successful that for many arming themselves isn't even contemplated.
