Former head of Brady Campaign converts!

Posted by David Hardy · 23 November 2019 07:09 PM

Story here.

"I'm here because I've seen how all of you decent, responsible, law-abiding gun owners are relentlessly, and I believe unfairly, demonized."

"I'm here because I've seen firsthand how an ideological hatred of guns and the people who own them is more important to some people than the actual goal of saving lives."

He left Brady because "I had a lot of issues with a lot of people who thought they were on my side," who would tell him "I think we should get rid of all the guns."

Call me a cynic, but I believe a government which wants to take all guns from some people will surely expand the membership of the "some people" group until it is virtually all people. "Some people" will become "more people" until it is only "well connected people". Training will be mandated and expanded. The cost and qualifications will increase. The "approved" list will become ever smaller.
As has been said many times before, "It ain't about guns, it is about control", and the gun grabbers are both smart and patient.
I would rather take my chances in a society where anyone can have a gun than one where (in theory) "no one" can have one.

This guy did not convert. He is a sheep in wolfs clothing. He would be the first to red flag you...can't believe you posted this crap.

@anon: Yes and no.

Reading between the lines, both here and some of the things he's on record saying recently, it seems to all boil down to one thing: Legacy.

Gross has dedicated the last 20+ years to his "gun safety" advocacy--whether you agree with what he wants or not, he seems to sincerely want to push for legislation he feels will make the country safer.

By contrast, Bloomberg seems to want his legacy, or at least part of it, to be sweeping gun bans. To accomplish that, he's firing on all cylinders, including using "gun safety" as a hammer.

To put it simply, Gross has come to the conclusion that Bloomberg's current "gun safety" push is destroying his legacy: It galvanizes gun owners against even his "gun control lite" proposals, because it's clear that they're nothing more than gun bans by another name. To that end, I believe he is trying to rebrand himself as a "pro-gun gun-safety" advocate.

TLDR: I believe that Gross can be trusted as an anti-Bloomberg advocate, but should not be trusted as a pro-gun advocate.
