Colt suspends civilian AR-15 manufacture

Posted by David Hardy · 19 September 2019 03:15 PM

Story here. No way to know if it's due to pressure, or just market forces (a LOT of competition in the AR field these days).

So, will this make my Colt AR's more valuable?

I have heard for some time that colt ARs are hot and preferred by collectors, so maybe

Colt has had a checkered past with its civilian market offerings. I remember well all the confusion of different assorted trigger and take-down pins for their AR's, their failure to develop a popular semi-auto pistol (other than Browning's 1911), their revolver manufacturing problems, and their numerous descents into insolvency. I started out loving Colts, now I say "screw 'em".

I'm so old I remember when Colt folded to the Clinton mob and became a military only contractor. F em then and now. One other thing - companies that go whole hog for gov. contracts belittle their civilian customers. For example, H&K, Beretta, and we'll see the same from Sig, in all likelihood. It's too bad, but they don't care because once the contracts are over, the sheep always come back. Do I sound cynical??
