Deputy who failed to go in at Parkland school shooting arrested
In connection with the shooting, he's charged with seven counts of child neglect, plus culpable negligence and perjury. He was also fired, as was a sergeant who hid behind his car and did not transmit a command for ten minutes.
My prediction: his defense will be that SOP for the office at that time commanded that he do what he did. Which reminds me of what an 18th century Austrian commander said to an office who said he was obeying orders, "Which I made you a major I thought you had brains enough to know when to disobey me."
Hat tip to David Workman.
He was and is a disgrace. For many years the "best practices" SOP has been recognized as immediate intervention. Delay costs about one life per minute.
