DC reportedly caves, will not go to the Supreme Court

Story here. I guess they learned from the last time.

Hat tip to Alice Beard....

My guess - they're afraid that SCOTUS would grant cert, and that they'd lose.

They'd rather live with shall-issue than force California et al. to shall-issue.

Darn it!

We needed them to appeal. Now it remains status quo.

So, need the national concealed carry reciprocity more than ever.

I agree with previous commenters, especially since the DC Atty even said it straight out at his news conference. The gun-haters including the DC Atty and Mayor are specifically afraid that the Supreme Court *would* grant cert and then *affirm* the DC Circuit, thereby setting a USSC precedent invalidating all the anti-carry USCA precedents around the country.

The gun-haters' plan is for DC to institute yet another new licensing regime which will be loaded with bureaucratic obstacles and legal pitfalls for carriers. That will generate more litigation, which will take years to resolve. In the meantime New York, and California, and so-on and so-forth will continue to ban carry under local USCA precedent.
