Once again we are screwed by the supreme court's WRONG decision in Baron v Baltimore. If it weren't for the courts we just might have a good country. Not one thing in the 2nd implies or explicitly states that the 2nd applies ONLY to the federal government. Factually, the supremacy clause takes the 2nd and makes it the "supreme law of the land" impacting and controlling all levels of government. And while some want to argue that basic safety restrictions are not infringements, that is highly debatable.

And there is still the Full Faith and Credit clause. Is a CCW or other gun license NOT a pubic record? And is not the law passed by a state a public act? SO why that heck are we still arguing about the fact that the Constitution COMMANDS every State to accept the public acts, records and judicial proceedings of every other state. How is it that states accept driver's licenses and marriage licenses bit NOT CCW? Nothing in the Full Faith and Credit command leaves any wiggle room or allows for states to be choosy.

I am as big a gun nut as the next guy, but I have little sympathy for the woman in the video. She flew from Georgia to New York City with her gun and kept it with her while she stayed at her hotel. In NYC possession of a handgun without a permit issued by the city is a crime and has been since 1911 (the "Sullivan Law"). She should have done a little research on NYC gun laws before bringing a firearm into that jurisdiction. It's no wonder the airline called the cops.

"but I have little sympathy for the woman in the video" and she should have done her homework in Georgia before flying to NY. Agreed.

But it could just as easily have been me, having done my homework and ticketed from DEN to IAD direct, both of which will give me absolutely no bullshit about flying with a checked handgun, and my airline happily diverting me through JFK because of a storm, and then getting stuck at JFK because of maintenance problems, and then giving me no choice but to claim my luggage and stay overnight in a NYC hotel. Naaahhh, couldn't happen.

So maybe we need to give the Left some of their own medicine, by holding out this Georgian mother as an example of the injustice and demanding a redress of our grievances.

A good number of years go when Bloomburg was in office - A man had a custom made flint lock rifle that he was interviewed about. Not with standing that the law stated he could not register it, Bloomburg sent a NYPD official to coerce him into registering it.
The place is worse than a swamp (I was born and raised there) and so what we really need is the Fed's taking the city to court and sticking it them with huge fines until they get some brains. It is the only way they will start to understand.
And yes it happens too often that you are diverted and the airline forces you to take your luggage and so now you are breaking the trip and in possession.

Anyone who thinks that NY or NYC can take away a right is an idiot.

"Anyone who thinks that NY or NYC can take away a right is an idiot."

Anyone who thinks NY/NYC won't still try to, and cost me my life savings in lawyer's fees, has no business calling me an idiot.

It's not what they have the power to do, but what they get away with.
