Trump election drives up gun sales to minorities

Posted by David Hardy · 24 November 2016 10:06 AM

As Imstapundit asks, is there anything that Trump cannot do?

There has been some thought that gun sales might slump off, but I am skeptical there. I saw an industry study years ago that tried to determine whether the rapidly rising sales were due to fear of then-new president Obama. The study singled out guns that people would think were more vulnerable to restriction -- handguns and "assault rifles" -- and compared their sales trends to general firearm sales trends.

The finding was that after his first election and for, if I remember correctly, three months after, the more vulnerable firearms had a sale surge disproportionate to other firearms, but after that, all firearms began surging. The conclusion was that were seeing some general trend to want more firearms that was not being driven by political fears.

So are we to see another world greatest gun salesman just with a different set of customers :)

Initially the thought of liberal democrats with guns was a bit disturbing. But, in the long run, after the new gun owner visits the range a few times, I'm guessing that a good many of them will lean toward a more conservative ideology. It would begin with stronger support for the 2nd Amendment and grow from there. Happens every time.

Regressives owning and shooting guns is a two edged sword. "Sometimes" they will see the light and change their attitudes towards the 2nd, but it's just as likely that they will simply expand their OWN horizon and view gun ownership as only THEIR right to be exercised, and all the rest of us cousin humpin deplorable, flyover country rednecks STILL need to be controlled and restricted.

I have an acquaintance that is exactly that way. Gun ownership is OK for him, but everyone else needs to be controlled.....

It will vary. Some will see the light and start to view it as a right, others will see it as their privilege while demanding more gun control, and a small number may go on a killing spree (Most mass killers with political inclinations turn out to be regressive leftists.).
