The advance of "shall issue" CCW

Posted by David Hardy · 15 October 2015 08:57 AM

No Lawyers, Only Guns and Money, has an interesting chart on the spread of "may issue" CCW, from 1986 to the present. In 1986, a minuscule percent of the population lived in States where no permit was necessary, and under 10% in "shall issue" areas. Today over 72% of the American population lives in States that fall into those classes.

Caution! Given the large number of mass shootings attitudes will change, driving us into a British or Australia confiscation. Four bills have been introduced in the Michigan legislature implying confiscation without due process.

Actually, it was over 10% in 1986. Everyone uses the incorrect account of Cramer and Kopel for Georgia shall issue at 1989 which is when a non-binding unofficial opinion was published. The actual date is 1976, which is when the law was actually passed.

They're coming for your guns!! LOL. It's sad and tragic when paranoia and guns meet.

Given what Obama and Hillary have said I think the possibility must be considered. In general socialists want to control and it is so much easier to control when the people are defenseless and even easier when they are crowded together in limited spaces like cities.

Mr. Lloyd, this site attracts a fairly high percentage of thoughtful, cogent commenters. Your sneering and cynical condescension, by contrast, is certainly a breath of fresh air. Thank you for the most delightful diversion from the intelligent and well-presented arguments of the usual visitor.

The paranoids are the ones who want to take the guns, right?
