Sounds like they both screwed up - unlawful possession/discharge of a firearm, attempted murder, assault on a police officer, kidnapping, to name just a few

And the boyfriend? Negligent storage of a firearm, unlawful transfer of a firearm

Let's hope the man made sure there was a background check before allowing his girlfriend to grab the pistol!

Expanded background checks would put a stop to this kind of thing.

Common sense gun laws is all we are asking for.

....A ten day waiting period from wanting the gun to getting the gun, as California has, would have prevented this. It's made California one of the most crime free states with the lowest gun violence rate on record.
