Chicago "reduces crime" by cooking the books...

Posted by David Hardy · 19 April 2014 06:45 PM

Story here. Under pressure from the mayor and high level administrators, police reports are changed to reclassify murders as non-criminal deaths, and aggravated assaults are understated by nearly 25%.

Sounds like the same type of system that the UK likes to use in their cooking of the books. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/3245966/Serious-violent-crime-under-reported-for-a-decade.html

If things are getting worse then by all means cook the books and lie to me must be the new moto for gun control area's.

If the mayor and city council know about this and they don't take reasonable steps to prevent it and prosecute those responsible, then maybe somebody should bring charges to the grand jury against the mayor for accessory to murder after the fact, for fraudulent police reports letting murderers go unpursued. The mayor told or pressured the cops to do it, he knew they were doing it, and he directly benefited from it. Even if the prosecution failed, it might have some beneficial effect.

Well, gee whiz, guys, they "cooked the books" to claim they had more crime victims in order to get VOCA grants, and more hate crime victims, to get more Justice Dept money, so why cannot they now cook the books in the opposite direction to show they did something about all that additional crime that they created out raw statistics and white paper. Criminologists know not to take the jurisdictions word for it; this is a case of the press getting wise, too. It usually doesn't.
