Student disarms gunman, gets punished

Posted by David Hardy · 3 March 2013 12:58 PM

He wrestles the gun away from an aggressor, and is immediately suspended for having been involved in a gun incident. Somedays you can't make this stuff up. Especially in education.

We all know violence is bad. Therefore attacking someone and using brute force to take away their personal property is bad. They should have used loving, inclusive words of encouragement to get him to hand over the gun. We should try to solve our problems peacefully. Violence should be a last resort. A LAST LAST LAST resort. You should only resort to violence after you have tried committing suicide and that failed to appease the attacker. It was obviously the NRA gun culture that caused these kids to misbehave. These .22 revolvers are just high capacity killing machines invented for use in combat. These weapons of war don't belong on our streets. Can't we all just get along?[/sarc off]

Some guy comes In with a gun... I think that calls for " violence " to take him down. And for your information a .22 cal isn't a weapon of war. You can use your "peaceful" talking to try and get a determined gunman to give up his gun. You will just be the one leaving in a body bag.

Critic was being sarcastic (see end of his comment).

The hero kept a kid from being shot (and maybe killed) on a school bus. He thus deprived the left of a HUGE opportunity to go into full screech for weeks about the evils of guns. Of COURSE the hero must be punished. (Sadly, I'm not sure THIS one is sarcasm.)

Actually, there would have been little coverage of this if the perp had not been stopped... Judging from the names in the article, it involved black kids, and the liberal press doesn't care about black kids shooting black kids.*

*See the lack of wailing and gnashing of teeth over the stunning black on black violence rates in gun-free inner cities vs the huge media circus over statistical blips involving white kids.

Why does this incident remind me of stories of Muslim women being stoned to death for being involved in a rape?
What are the intentions of the various parties?
