FLA CCW holder arrested ... for letting firearm be visible

Posted by David Hardy · 4 February 2013 01:14 PM

Video here. I suspect FLA is like AZ used to be: a CCW permit authorizes you to carry concealed, and nobody needs a permit to carry openly.

No, FL is like TX, open carry is prohibited in almost all circumstances.

Unless you are the chosen few like police officers but then this country was founded on the principle of freedom for only a select group.

That jackass badge carrier just put a crimp in his career. FlState statute 790.053 subsection 1.790.06 part 1..Weapon ca not be carried openly. If carried concealed but briefly is exposed to another is NOT illegal. That badgeheavy sob is going to find out how wrong he was. Florida just passes that law in the last two years.

"FL State Title XLVI, Chapter 790, subsection 790.053: Open carrying of weapons.—
(1) Except as otherwise provided by law and in subsection (2), it is unlawful for any person to openly carry on or about his or her person any firearm or electric weapon or device. It is not a violation of this section for a person licensed to carry a concealed firearm as provided in s. 790.06(1), and who is lawfully carrying a firearm in a concealed manner, to briefly and openly display the firearm to the ordinary sight of another person, unless the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense."

Sounds like these words, along with that video, could put some settlement money in the motorist's pocket.

Officer Lockskid looks like he had too much coffee the day he arrested Bubba for "jumping out of the car" in that manner (it was more like rolling out). [Facepalm!]

I'd hired a lawyer and go after some money.

That state needs to retrain its officers in the simpler points of this very simple law.

I am shocked at the " I will shoot you in the F*&^(^g Back " Comment made by the Officer. The driver never flashed or displayed the Legal Con/Carry Firearm on purpose. He also stated to the
Office that he has a Permit to Carry as soon as the
Officer asked if that was a gun.
