There are three "big" ones and a bunch of smaller ones. But yes the union rates killed a lot of papers that I can recall when I was growing up there.
Geez, a walkout by the unionized employees of the New York Times --One of the few actual newspapers left. Didn't they learn anything from all the strikes by newspaper employees in the 60's? From what, 6 local daily papers in 1960 there are what, two New York daily papers now?
