NY Post on Fast and Furious

Posted by David Hardy · 24 June 2012 08:59 AM

A very good article.

"Pssst — heard the one about the lethal scandal that reaches to the upper levels of the Obama administration and may turn out to be bigger than Watergate? A crime in which two American agents have been killed, and which the Justice Department has been furiously trying to cover up for more than 18 months?

If you answered “no,” you’re not alone. The mainstream media have largely ignored the lethal — and most likely deliberate — “gunwalking” operation known as Fast and Furious. The plan, as ridiculous as it sounds, was to knowingly sell weapons to Mexican drug cartels, in hopes of tracing the guns. Of course, our government lost track of them."

And

"Wishing to “prove” the lie that 90% of the guns used in Mexican drug violence originate in America (the real figure is closer to 17%), Justice used the failed Operation Wide Receiver as the model for a larger operation deliberately designed to fail.

That way, they could point in feigned horror at the recovered American weapons and crack down on legitimate gun dealers — the very dealers they had forced to sell weapons to the cartels via “straw purchasers” in the first place."

...But Justice had no hope of tracing the guns, they had exactly the opposite desire. They deliberately didn't follow or wire the guns, nor did they tell the Mexican Government these guns were coming. The Justice Dept. did and got what they wanted : dead Mexicans to bolster their anti second amendment strategy. Holder was conspiring to curtail a basic American freedom.

Well, I suppose I'd like to believe that, too. But your assertion here doesn't mean squat. Believing it happened is a very different thing than demonstrating it happened.

A question I have is: When will the anti Obama group realize that over 200 Mexican citizens have been murdered with those "walked" guns? For sure, two US agents were murdered, but why no outcry for the 200+ poor brown people south of the border? Obama is pandering to the hispanics to get their vote. Who would the hispanics vote for if they knew about his callous attitude toward the murdered Mexican citizens that were slaughtered using the guns Obama's administration supplied to the murderers?

..You're right Carl. It is my supposition, and I can't prove it. If Issa gets his documents, and turns some folks who know, I may get the proof. Or it may not be so.
..But Mr. Holder doesn't obfuscate for nothing. I was a cop for 32 years. Committing Federal felonies and not tracking the guns or letting the Mexicans know is of no investigative value. It was not a sting operation, not even a poorly executed one.

It could be the claim of executive privilege over these documents is intended to distract fromt he economy and other issues, but my guess is that there really is something they want to hide. Time will tell, which is the problem. Too much time.

Perhaps if Mr. Issa trots out a bulletin board with pictures of some of the hundreds of murdered Mexican nationals, "Slaughter gate" will gain some traction.
