Helmke leaving Brady Center

Posted by David Hardy · 23 June 2011 05:09 PM

Story here.

"The Brady Campaign, in announcing Helmke's departure, noted many accomplishments of his tenure." Must not have been a long ceremony... Heller, McDonald, passage of "shall issue" permit laws, concealed carry in national parks, expiration of the "assault weapon" law....

UPDATE: some signs of discord:

"Even after deciding to leave his role as president, Helmke said he still wanted to stay with the Brady Campaign . He said that he and the organization could not agree on a suitable role, however, so the two sides mutually decided to part ways."

"Helmke, a Republican..."

Well, his career as an elected political official is probably over. I'll be he goes to some foundation like Annenberg, Joyce, or Ford.

The only acceptable next place for Helmke to go is death row, for all the murders, rapes, and maimings he was complicit in, by campaigning to make the victims disarmed.

No succession plan, and no alternative role for old Paul. Hmm. Wore out his welcome, somehow? Hope he has some savings. Might find the lean job market tough. If one can't get along in the not-for-profit arena, even with an apparently good ideological match, one often really can't get along with about anybody.

I'll miss the incompetent spaz.

We had so many victories while he was at the helm.

I'll miss him.
