Brady Campaign grades are out

Posted by David Hardy · 5 May 2011 09:33 PM

Press release here, with Brady giving zero to Alaska, Utah, and Arizona for not having "a single common sense gun law on their books," and giving its highest marks to California, which is a "model of sensible gun laws."

And looking at 2009 homicide rates, per 100,000 population, we find:

Alaska 3.1
Arizona 5.4
Utah 1.3
Nat'l average 5.0
California 5.3

I'm disappointed, but not surprised. Virginia managed to get a special "Craziest Gun Laws" award for allowing licensed citizens to carry in bars as along as they don't drink, while we here in Massachusetts get nothing, even though we allow licensed citizens to carry in bars and drink (as long as they don't over-do it). Maybe it's because we interfere with the exercise of people's rights in so many other ways.

Keep in mind that the Brady Group is a republican group. This gives them ties to the NRA being both stand along side the big pink Elephant. Bottom line: Just because they have an R behind their name doesn't mean they have understood their oath to uphold the Constitution.
