Oral argument in the Ezell Chicago case

Posted by David Hardy · 4 April 2011 08:13 PM

Audio here. I haven't had a chance to listen yet, but spectators say the court was down on the Chicago attorney like the proverbial duck on a June bug. Chicago replaced its handgun ban with an onerous licensing system, including a requirement for hands-on range practice, while at the same time the City has a ban on firing ranges.

You have to listen to this. Oh my. I really can't believe it. This guy I think was unlucky enough to draw two gun people on the 7th Circuit.

When one Judge acuses the other Judge of having the Federal Court gun range in his chambers...

In other news, Judge Kanne stated on the record that all? Federal Courthouses have a shooting range in them.

Oh, man! This is good. You gotta listen! Early on, an older-sounding woman judge seemed a bit "confused." Alan handled her with grace. Then, when Chicago's lawyer began, the other two judges (a man and a younger-sounding woman) came in and just make Chicago's lawyer look like an idiot. This is a MUST LISTEN!

I guess I'll have to break down and get some speakers for my computer...

"Mr. Gura, what do you want your injunction to say?"

Priceless :-)

I hope there is a bowling alley, a rodeo arena, a car wash, a pro shop, DMV office, a post office, a froufrou coffee shop, and a barber shop in the federal courthouse along with a range, Snowflakes. And if there is also a "clinic" downstairs don't tell me what goes on in there.

I'll look for the audio. I got 404 twice.
