Rep. Deutch is a little behind the curve...

Posted by David Hardy · 21 March 2011 03:01 PM

He writes:

"Along our southwest border, where gun violence related to the Mexican drug war has claimed the lives of more than 30,000 people since 2006, the work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has been undermined by American gun dealers selling high-power semiautomatic rifles in bulk to smugglers with the worst of intentions."

Some people live under rocks.

Where do I start?

Ted Deutch…

Yes, the death of a coed in Florida, was tragic The testimony of her father brought tears to the committee member’s eyes. And as tragic her death was - because it was off-campus and occurred at a fraternity house where it appeared underage drinking was taking place, and since she was shot with a rifle which has nothing to do with handgun carry on campus, and was shot by a 20 year old who would have been ineligible to carry on campus because he was too young to be issued a license to carry - her death had nothing to do with SB234. SB 234, in part, would have allowed carry on Florida campuses.

That section of SB 234 died in committee after the girl’s father testified. As Ted Deutch said, however it was only a temporary setback and will be introduced, again next year.

I will not even comment on the ATF letting guns walk to Mexico. They have enough explaining to do.

I will comment on Ted Deutchs comment about “bulk sales.” In the NPRM the definition of “bulk” was TWO rifles. Hardly my definition of bulk. I do not know about you guys, but It’s hard to get out of a big gunshow with only one new rifle. And since the ATF says they don’t have enough money and manpower to keep track of the guns they are already watching, what are they going to do with all of the reports of the sale of two rifles other than putting them in a computer?

I apologize. These last few weeks have been tough. It is hard to watch people without a clue, govern the state. In reference to pro-gun bills, this is what we have been doing in Florida for the last couple of weeks.

The mail is somewhat slow down here in Florida. D.C. v Heller and McDonald v Chicago will get here someday.

Ted Deutch has pushed my red button. Thanks for listening to me vent

30,000 less to sneak into the US. What's bad about that? Jack.
