Supporters of the DC handgun ban argued that it served a crucial role in dealing with crime, and predicted that its loss would lead to all manner of dire effects.
"DC Homicides At Lowest Level Since 1963".
So much for antigunners' predictive abilities....

If anyone looks at the history of DC, crime basically went through the roof after passing the "gun-control" laws. If you need more proof than that you are just whistling in the dark
If one went back through the briefs for DC in the Heller case, one could identify numerous persons and organizations predicting a rise in gun crime should the handgun ban be repealed. I am pretty sure Adrian Fenty and Kathy Lanier in particular predicted it would rise.
It's sad that in politics and politically charged issues, the truth, predictability, credibility, and the like don't seem to matter as much as they should. It is mostly overblown rhetoric, stated when and where it will have the greatest traction for whatever one's issue is. We know that the gun control movement has always engaged in that sort of thing, and blatantly, too.
But alas, gun rights advocates are guilty of saying inaccurate things in the hopes that it will help our cause. One thing that comes to mind is "concealed carry laws reduce crime." Well, yes and no, but mostly no. While we know they don't increase crime, and in a few places seem to have reduced it, mostly it doesn't make any difference. Thankfully, our right to bear arms doesn't depend on the reduction of crime in general, but rather on the right to defend one's self, family, home, etc.
