Are we seeing a pattern here?

For the second time in a week, a Chicagoan uses a banned handgun to shoot a home invader.

Oh, horrifying! Another associate of Mayor Daley has been injured by an eeevil gun. We've got to make Chicago safe...for the criminals.
Ok, so there are no charges at this time. But I bet the handguns have been taken as evidence so now what do they do for defense? Smuggle another one into the city to defend against retaliation from the gang?
We're seeing that the word is getting out among people who live in Chicago that there's a law that applies here that, in effect, says, "If you have a gun inside your home and you use it in self-defense against someone who breaks into your home, you're not going to be charged with any city law that says you may not have a firearm in your home."
