NRA Board elections

Posted by David Hardy · 18 February 2010 07:01 AM

Just got my ballot issue, and went searching for candidates' webpages for more info. Here's what I found so far:

Carol Bambery of Michigan, webpage here. Shooter, hunter, pro-gun attorney, carries an incredible load of NRA board work (serves on six committees, about twice the usual workload), filed pro-gun briefs in DC v. Heller and in the Chicago case. Supported by Texas CHL Forum.

Steve Shreiner, webpage here. President, Firearms Coalition of Colorado, which rec'd NRA's award for best volunteer organization of the year; combat veteran (Airborne Rangers) with Silver Star and Bronze Star with v for valor, serves as member of NRA's Grassroots Committee.

Tom King, webpage here. President of and political liaison for NY State Rifle and Pistol Association, endorsed by it and by the Fifty Caliber Institute.

Ken Hanson [added], webpage here. Pro-gun attorney, does much legal work pro-bono for progun causes, winner of NRA Defender of Justice award, former Legislative Director of Buckeye Firearms Association.

I will be voting for Carol BAMBERY.

She is one of the hardest working NRA Board members I've seen.

She's a hunter, a lawyer, a mom, and has been a law professor in the past.

I second the vote for Carol. Very hard worker. Tom is a good guy too. I like that Schreiner just keeps plugging. Another web site is for Ken Hanson:

he strikes me as a good guy.
I'm posting all of the info I can find and inviting the candidates to visit and answer questions at www.GunVoter.org. I'll also have my official endorsements posted there and at www.FirearmsCoalition.org tonight or tomorrow.

I know Steve Shreiner and have known him for well over 15 years, he is one of the most honest and straight foreword people I know. I don't think you could find a better person for the NRA board. I don't anyone who has worked harder for our 2nd amendment rights. Please give him the chance to do one of the things he does best, which is protecting our rights.

God bless you Steve.

Is there any way to find out which board members opposed the NRA butting in on Heller and McDonald?

I would like to cast my votes in the 2013 NRA board elections for much more moderate members than presently make up the board. I am not fond of the direction the NRA is taking. Perhaps understandably, no candidate seems willing to declare that they are anything but somewhere to the right of the most rabid of Tea Party members.

Does anyone have any sources to find if particular 2013 board candidates are not full-on regressives? Perhaps it would be easier to ask which candidates are 100% bought-and-paid-for lackeys for corporations, or the most extreme ultra-right wing politically.

Thanks!
